This submission was an updated version of the previous years submission which had been rejected on a technicality, so all the kudos go to the 2004 committee Damien, Ann, Carina for their hard work on this.

This will be a significant investment by the club and a major upgrade to our cruising fleet, so you can look forward to exciting times ahead.

DMYC Regatta

Congratulations to Gary who finished joint first in the DMYC Regatta PY class on Saturday.
Having won his first ever race, he then slipped to second place in his second race, finishing with a total of 3 points, tied equal first with the Irish Junior team 420.
With his racing career now in obvious decline Gary has decided to retire and concentrate on sailing the Ruffian.

In total we entered 3 club boats in the regatta, and were joined by Ralph & Niamh in their laser for a great days racing in the summer sunshine on Saturday. There are another 3 regattas coming up in the next month so why not join the fun....

Carlingford
The first Ruffian trip of the year took place last weekend with a hugely enjoyable trip to Carlingford.
50 miles north is a new record for the Ruffin. We sailed in company with ex-member Niamh Kernan on her new boat "Challenger".

While the good weather brought brilliant sunshine the wind was in shorter supply so some motor sailing was in order. For the trip up the early birds were at the Coal Harbour for a six o'clock start. (Bronagh, Damien, Eleanor, James, Robin, Una) They made landfall after a 11 hour journey for some welcome refreshments in PJs.

Challenger made the return trip on Sunday with Robin, Dermot, James and Wyn on board while the Ruffian had an afternoon cruise around the Lough visiting the United Kingdom although we didn't go ashore as unfortunately some of the crew had forgotten to bring their passports.

On Monday we set for home at 7.30 arriving in Dun Laoghaire for 6.30 that evening. We motored to Lambay in fog and very light air spotting a few whales along the way. The fog then cleared to reveal the holiday sunshine as we sailed on past Howth and home. We even met a flock of yellow ducks who had escaped after the Liffey race on Saturday as well a seeing many flocks of hens in Carlingford. Crew for the return trip were (Carlos, Cearbhall, Damien, Elma, Gary, Martina)

Hopefully this will be the first of many cruises this Summer.

Thanks to Damien for organizing.

June is the premium month for new members with the long evenings, summer sun and the whole season to look forward to. Remember you can bring your friends down to sail as guests for just 20 euros (No experience required for Ruffian) so please spread the word.

New Dinghys
We plan to replace Heineken and Golden Wonder 420s.
If you are aware of any 420's for sale, or if you can help out with viewing boats for sale, please let Brenda know.
